Subject: Have You
Ever Asked Yourself: “What Is The True Cost of My Talent Acquisition?
Hello ~Contact.FirstName~
I remember the first
time that we introduced the Bad Hire Calculator™ to a client –
their reaction was unexpected.
They didn’t say a word. For about a minute.
We knew that it was a potentially game-changing tool, but we
didn’t quite realise just what an impact it would make. From that moment, our
relationship changed.
We were showcasing the true cost of YOUR recruitment process and
making a bad hire.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) compiled a
fascinating study in October 2017. It was called “Perfect Match (Making a Right
Hire and the Costs of Getting It Wrong),” and it highlighted a few home truths
that Recruiters, Employers and the in-house recruitment community have been
unable to accurately quantify.
Shortly afterwards, we started using this Breakout Tool that was
based on the findings of the “Perfect Match” study. With the help of a few
clever algorithms and a dose of common sense, the tool brings information to
light that has long been in the shadows.
Up to now, there has been no remotely scientific method of
calculating the cost of bad (or good) recruitment. The BHC provides a
thunderous wake-up call.
For {Company Name} our
mission is simple. We want to get to know our clients – the more that they let
us into their world, the better job we can do for them. Previously, we found
ourselves talking about the same old things in our client meetings, but when we
took those few minutes to fill in the BHC, the subsequent discussions were at a
whole new level.
“Do our current recruitment practices really cost us this much?”
“Our board really has to see this.”
“How can you help us improve the situation?”
I would not like to suggest that companies are naïve in thinking
that their recruitment process is perfect, but the volume of work often means
that they have little time for introspection. The cynical amongst us might
suggest that it is in their interests to sweep their poor retention metrics
under a carpet, but figures like this cannot remain hidden for long.
This breakout tool changed the game, and more importantly for us
and our clients, it initiated conversations about how we might assist them to
considerably reduce their overall cost to hire.

Hiring Companies Never Understood This. Until Now.
Hello ~Contact.FirstName~,
Have you ever asked yourself the question “What does our current
recruitment process really cost our business?”
“I’m not sure that I can show these unflattering metrics to my
boss…”
How long your new hires stay isn’t the hardest metric to
measure, but for some reason, not so much time is spent on analysing how this
might be improved. It is like an itch on your back that you have to scratch,
but you don’t quite have a long enough implement to get there.
If you hire the wrong person in the first place, their early
departure is inevitable. No amount of training and development can dodge that
bullet.
Retention certainly lives with the recruitment team, and they
definitely care about it, but they maybe just need a helping hand to get a grip
on it. Up until now, there has not been an objective way of measuring the
effectiveness of recruitment and just how much poor retention of new hires is
damaging their business.
When you don’t have any statistics to benchmark against, it is
hard to press for change.
Shortly afterwards, we started using this breakout tool that was

wake-up call.
When you sit in front of a hiring company and watch them input
their specific data into the calculator, the penny drops immediately. If they
can calculate the cost of making a bad hire, and they understand the variables
that influence the situation, they are also able to pursue a genuine change to
improve things.
As I have written before, the moment that a client sees these
numbers, their immediate next question is to ask us how we can help them to
improve. No one likes a scary number, especially if it means that their work is
costing their company a lot of money.
Once that number is out there, it can’t be hidden away in some
drawer. They have to deal with it, and more often than not it has initiated
conversations that have led to a far closer recruitment relationship (and
naturally improved results).

Subject: Here’s How We Demystify the Cost
of Hiring
Hello ~Contact.FirstName~,
The cost of your hiring is not just the 15% or less that you
might pay a bargain-basement recruiter.
That recruiter might deliver candidates, but if they are not
ideal, there are so many more hidden costs to a hiring company. They will take
longer to train, they will disrupt their colleagues, and they will devalue the
customer experience. For all of these reasons and many more, they will be
managed out of the business pretty swiftly.
Poorly recruited candidates rarely last more than 6-12 months.
That is now looking like an awfully expensive 15%.
We wanted to offer our clients a far superior service, and with
the help of the i-intro® platform, we were able to ensure a 96% retention rate
after 12 months. That has been our “calling card”, and clients come back to us
because they know that we will do it right.
We undertook a project that has helped us to quantify just what
a difference this improved retention was making to our clients. We came up with
a unique tool to help us shed a light on the costs of poor recruitment.
We call it the Bad
Hire Calculator™ which has transformed our initial discussions with
employers like you.
Utterly and totally.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) compiled a
fascinating study in October 2017. It was called “Perfect Match (Making a Right
Hire and the Costs of Getting It Wrong),” and it clearly showcased a few home
truths that Recruiters, Employers and the in-house recruitment community have
been unable to accurately quantify.
Shortly afterwards, we started using this breakout tool that was
based on the findings of the “Perfect Match” study. With the help of a few clever
algorithms and a dose of common sense, the tool brings information to light
that has long been in the shadows.
Up to now, there has been no remotely scientific method of
calculating the cost of bad (or good) recruitment. The BHC provides a thunderous
wake-up call.
It is now a simple matter of inputting a few numbers into the
model, and companies get a baseline number for how much their recruitment is
costing them. It is a new way to measure the effectiveness of external (and
internal) recruitment, and each one of our clients will now be using this going
forward to quantify the value-add of their recruiters.
I know that we are incredibly excited to show-off the {Company name} difference. Without the
objective and well-thought-out approach of the BHC, this would have been
impossible.
